A vivah muhurat is a wedding time chosen so the sky itself is in order: Jupiter and Venus visible and strong, the Moon well-placed, and the day free of the classical exclusions. Panchang lists give you the shared skeleton — but the muhurat that is right for YOUR wedding depends on two specific charts, which is why two families with the same list still end up with different dates.
The 2026–27 season at a glance
- ✦November–mid-December 2026: the main winter season, running until Kharmas begins (mid-December, when the Sun enters Sagittarius and weddings pause).
- ✦Mid-January–March 2027: the season resumes after Makar Sankranti; spring dates run until the Venus/Jupiter combustion breaks.
- ✦April–June 2027: the summer window, including Akshaya Tritiya — the traditionally self-certified (abujh) muhurat day.
- ✦A tailwind for this season: Jupiter transits Cancer — its sign of exaltation — through 2026–27, strengthening the karaka of marriage itself.
What actually disqualifies a date
- ✦Kharmas / Malmas: Sun in Sagittarius or Pisces — no vivah.
- ✦Chaturmas: the four monsoon months when Vishnu sleeps — traditionally avoided.
- ✦Venus or Jupiter combust (asta): the marriage karakas lost in the Sun's glare — the most commonly violated rule on “cheap” lists.
- ✦Bhadra periods, certain tithis (Amavasya notably) and inauspicious nakshatra days.
Why the list is not enough
The panchang layer clears the sky; it says nothing about the couple. A proper muhurat is then filtered against both birth charts — the Moon's transit (avoid the 8th from either Moon), Tara bala (star strength between the couple's nakshatras and the day's), and the couple's own dasha windows. A date perfect for the sky can still sit badly for one chart — this filtering is exactly what our Vivah Muhurta finder computes for both charts at once, down to the best clock time on each date.
