Sade Sati — “seven and a half” — is the roughly 7½-year stretch when transit Saturn crosses the sign before your Moon, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after. Because Saturn spends about 2½ years per sign, the three crossings add up to the most talked-about, most feared and most misunderstood period in Jyotish.
What it actually does
Saturn's transit over the Moon presses on the mind: workload rises, support systems thin out, and life demands structure where there was slack. The classical read is not “bad luck” — it is compression. People routinely finish Sade Sati with a marriage, a house, a discipline or a career they did not have going in. The middle phase (Saturn on the Moon itself) is the heaviest; the first and last phases are lighter.
Current dates (sidereal / Lahiri)
- ✦Saturn in Pisces: March 2025 → June 2027 (with a brief retrograde return in late 2027).
- ✦Saturn in Aries: June 2027 → November 2029.
- ✦Saturn in Taurus: November 2029 → mid-2032.
Which means, by Moon sign: Aquarius Moons are in their final phase now and exit when Saturn leaves Pisces. Pisces Moons are in the peak phase until June 2027, then their final phase to November 2029. Aries Moons are in the first phase now, peak from June 2027. Taurus Moons begin their first phase in June 2027 and peak from November 2029.
The honest advice
The tradition's actual prescription for Sade Sati is not fear and not expensive stones: it is discipline, service, and keeping commitments small and kept. Saturn rewards exactly one thing — showing up. Astrology's job is to tell you the load-bearing years in advance so you can schedule your life's heavy lifts either side of the peak.
